Astonishing 24Gb DDR5 RAM ships

This is the first time that a single DRAM chip has been shipped samples of 24 Gigabit (Gb) DDR5 DRAM with the industry’s largest density. The highest density DDR DRAM offering currently available is 16Gb, with the most common density being 8Gb.

JEDEC’s (Joint Electron Device Engineering Council) comprehensive standard specification for DDR (Double Data Rate) is used in PCs, servers and other applications. There are currently five generations of DDR. 1-2-3-4-5

For the second time in less than a year, SK hynix has released the industry’s largest density DDR5 chip, further cementing the chipmaker’s position as a technological leader in DDR5.

EUV processes were used to produce the new 24Gb DDR5 using the cutting-edge 1anm technology. Improved production efficiency and increased speeds of up to 33% have been achieved by using 24GB of DDR5 on a single chip, compared to 16GB in 1ynm DDR5.

With the help of improved production efficiency, SK Hynix has managed to reduce the product’s power consumption by 25 percent compared to existing products. A reduction in carbon emissions is also expected, which is important in terms of ESG management.

The first 48 GB and 96 GB modules of this product will be made available to cloud data centres. High-performance servers for big data processing, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, are also expected to be powered by this processor.
